5 Things We've Been Watching : May 2020
We love video here at PEG (obviously) and talk about it pretty much non-stop. So, we wanted to share with you five things that caught our eye, started a conversation or gave us a little inspiration over the last month.
NFL Schedule Release Videos
Watch Panthers Here | Watch Saints Here | Watch Jaguars Here
Why it’s a thing: It's always interesting to see what teams do for schedule release day. Always one upping each other and taking things to the next level. And this year was especially interesting to see what they did during stay-at-home orders. From funny to serious and everything in between, there were lots of really creative approaches. These are just a few of our favorites.
Sick 360 Camera Rig Setup
Why it’s a thing: This all started because we saw this video. And we wanted to know how he did it. So, we were excited to see this other video that showed a side-by-side of a similar video with a behind-the-scenes look at the setup they used. We always love seeing how thing are created and learning about new ways to create video. Very fun, creative content and we can't wait to give it a try.
Donovan Peoples-Jones | NFL Draft Home Video
Why it’s a thing: We have seen these draft day videos before. This one stood out in particular, though, because of the quick looks at the behind-the-scenes of how it was filmed. You get a glimpse at a video shoot during a pandemic - masks, social distancing. It is almost a time capsule of what draft day productions look like in 2020. But it also created a strange sense of normalcy that comes with seeing a draft day video right now in all this chaos. Life is continuing and productions, while looking a little different, are still moving forward.
Derek Jeter surprises, thanks frontline healthcare hero Dr. Melissa Leber | SC Featured
Why it’s a thing: This is a feel-good piece for Mother's Day. Things like this also give a sense of normalcy - celebs surprising deserving people isn't new. (There are A LOT of deserving people right now!) While the logistics are a little different, as we can see with the behind-the-scenes peeks, the sentiment is the same and it's one that very welcomed and we can't get enough of.
Zion National Park - We The Keepers
Why it’s a thing: Well, one - this is obviously a STUNNING video. But more than that, it is a rather deep-dive, long-form look at Zion National Park and the delicate balance it is trying to take between keeping visitors and keeping the conservation efforts. Artists, rangers, visitors and locals all give their personal stories of the park and talk about how much the park means to them, encouraging everyone to make their own stories and memories with the park. It is a beautiful piece that tells a beautiful story and does a beautiful job of encouraging people to join the movement. Definitely worth the 22-minute watch.
