5 Things We've Been Watching : March 2020
We love video here at PEG (obviously) and talk about it pretty much non-stop. So, we wanted to share with you five things that caught our eye, started a conversation or gave us a little inspiration over the last month.
With Love, Jack | Jack Daniels
Why it’s a thing: This is something nice we all needed these last few weeks. Lots of videos of people coming together (but safely staying apart from each other!) And this is completely made from user-generated content, which is something we are bound to see more of us we continue to social distance. But that doesn't mean that content can't still have heart. After all, it is an important time for all of us - brands included - to still have some humanity.
Built to Lend a Hand | FORD
Why it’s a thing: This Ford spot shows how far you can go with two photos and some elegant copywriting. You don't always have to have an overly-produced spot to make it impactful.
Night Workers | MCDONALD'S
Why it’s a thing: From a storytelling side - this spot really makes you think. How many of these workers do you see each day and barely notice? And from a logistical side - this spot is so well done. Seeing all those jobs being done without the person in place, but its so easy to imagine the person there. Beautifully done.
Brand Relaunch | Chargers
Why it’s a thing: A lot of people have thoughts on this new brand, but regardless, it is a brand built for a modern age. Fun, colorful and prime for social media. (It even has its own custom emoji!) We can't wait to see what they do with it moving forward. And there are likely many teams that will be taking notes.
NC State Basketball Highlight
Why it’s a thing: This is a super short little clip from a NC State basketball pre-game but with some well-time shots and some color-grading, it as cinematic as anything we have seen in a while. Shooting sports is all about being aware and being in the moment - you never know what might turn out to be a once-in-a-lifetime shot you can't get back. But great storytelling and great editing is all about taking what you do get and turning it into something even more special.

Why it’s a thing: With this GoDaddy spot - its nice to see a brand go head on into some of the issues being facing businesses right now. A lot of them have had to transition into a larger presence online and that can be challenging, but if we support each other, we stand together and stay open.
Keep It Moving | Chris Fonseca (Long Form) | Smirnoff Ice
Why it’s a thing: It's a good time to think about longer-form content - as long as you have the right content to make it worth the watch! This piece is over 5 minutes long. It is not your traditional commercial spot. But it tells a great story and we are glad it didn't get contained to :30 or :60. Right now there are so many good stories out there and there is nothing wrong with a brand using its position to tell them, but just be careful. Focus on what's important.
