Why it’s a thing: This episode-long look into the behind-the-scenes world of 'Parts Unknown' is incredibly fascinating. Not only for the sake that you get to hear about what it was like to work with Anthony Bourdain, but because you get an inside look at how much work goes into a show that looked so raw and effortless. (Nothing about a multi-person crew and 30 cases of gear is effortless...)

Why it’s a thing: We love that Google puts these together every year. And the fact that the focus on this year's video is "good" in a year that sometimes didn't feel so great feel like a really nice way to end. It's nice to be reminded of all the beautiful, good things that did happen in 2018. Thanks for making us smile, Google.

Why it’s a thing: We all see thousands, if not millions, of ads each year. This mashup gives us a nice flashback of the year that was in advertising. Why it’s a thing: Because #4 on this list is "Video’s prominence as the preferred form of content." We have given you all the stats about how much internet traffic will be video by 2020 (Reminder: its over 80%) But in a sophisticated, internet world where people are looking for more personality and honesty from brands, nothing does this better than video.
