5 Things We've Been Watching : October 2019
We love video here at PEG (obviously) and talk about it pretty much non-stop. So, we wanted to share with you five things that caught our eye, started a conversation or gave us a little inspiration over the last month.

Why it’s a thing: This project seems pretty simple - video mixed with some clean, easy-to-read animations. But the way it transitions from scene to scene is a thing of beauty. Even after multiple watches, it is captivating. So well thought out and so well done. (And I am not just saying that because after repeat watches have made me more and more weary of our future robot overlords)
Our Defining Moment | Join Gen Less
Why it’s a thing: It is hard to put so many historic figures into one piece - and have it be a narrative that actually makes sense. This piece does that so well. And it also does a great job of mixing still image and video by using a similar visual style for both. Between the animations, the text and the other visuals - what could have felt like a choppy, thrown-together piece, is a beautiful, singular story.
FEEDING AMERICA: I AM HUNGER IN AMERICA BY LEO BURNETT (with Behind the Scenes Video)
Why it’s a thing: This article not only has the original video from Leo Burnett - which in itself is stunning. But also has a really interesting how its made video that shows how they used artificial intelligence to make an unbiased visual of a person who struggles with hunger. And it is nice to see this technology being used so well and for such a good cause.
HOW I FILM EPIC PIZZA B ROLL | Behind the Scenes
Why it’s a thing: Just the title of this alone had a lot of words we love here. Film. Epic. Pizza. But the video itself is a really cool look at the process it takes to film b-roll that actually looks good. It is generally a multi-step process that takes patience and a great eye for detail. But the end results are usually delicious... oh, I mean - the end results are usually worth it.
Gemini Man And High Frame Rate (HFR)--Is It The New Face Of Cinema?

Why it’s a thing: This article definitely caught the eye of our producers and got them talking. The potentially shift towards high frame rate (HFR) and what that means for the future of the industry, its a crazy to think about. Right now the industry standard is 24fps (frames per second). Gemini Man was shot in 120 fps! While as a viewer right now, you won't really notice this difference, mostly because the technology to show these movies in a way that will actually do justice to this new HFR isn't mainstream yet, it is fun to think about what is coming down the road.
